We got some additional information from Marcia Sinclair at the Zoo about a survey regarding public opinion on the master plan and bond projects:
I wanted to let you know what’s up at the zoo related to parking and traffic. I’m still chugging along on a proposal for tying you all into the planning processes here and hope to get something presentable to you within the next couple of weeks There has been little progress on planning, as Rick Williams has been out of the country for a few weeks and the WPA directors have been focused on other topics. In the mean time I’ve been working on a public survey that should produce useful data to inform plans.
The Oregon Zoo will launch an online survey to gather public opinion on a number of topics related to our master plan and bond funded projects. It will be conducted through Davis, Hibbitts, Midghall (DHM Research) as part of Metro’s Opt In online opinion panel. An invitation to the survey will go out on Thursday of this week to well over 65,000 people who are zoo members or attend concerts or other zoo events. Phill Worth from Kittelson & Associates, Inc. provided a list of questions intended to gather data on attendance, access and parking, most of which have been included in this survey. We hope the resulting data will prove useful to our parking and access planning.
We are promoting the survey on our web site, Facebook page and through Twitter, hoping to increase participation. I would encourage you and your neighbors to Opt In. The link below will take you to the Opt In page on the Metro web site for a complete description of this innovative approach to public engagement. From there you can sign up to join this panel and provide your perspectives on regional issues starting with future plans for the zoo. Many of the parking and access questions may not be relevant for those within walking distance of the zoo but there are a lot of other topics addressed in the survey that may be of interest.

The survey closes on June 4.
